“this shit is for the birds. but not this bird.” - joseph t. birdman

we got into austin and went straight to waterloo records. it was huge and they had an amazing selection, but they didn’t really have anything i HAD to buy. next we went to austin’s vintage guitars. this place was incredible. they had so many awesome old guitars and basses. i really want to try out a telecaster bass the next time i’m in the presence of one. they look REALLY cool. don’t know if it would work with senders though. we met up with eric and his girlfriend, val, and went to VEGGIE HEAVEN. holy shit this place is incredible. it’s a (mostly) vegan chinese restaurant with various faux meats and extremely low prices. i got the protein 2000 and a curry bun. beka showed up and took me and bird to the spider house, a really cool hipster bar she used to work at. got a stash ipa. it was okay. connected to, and owned by the same people, the bar is a huge art space that beka wanted to show us. as we were walking in i notice a gaggle of juggalos. i tried to get bird’s attention, but instead of him seeing me, they saw me. so all the way in this juggabro is saying “i’m following you! i’m following you! hey guy in the brown coat (i was wearing a brown coat), i’m following you!”, in the most ridiculous, “spooky” voice he could muster up. i said “cool! let’s party!” and that was that. but once inside we realized that this was a JUGGALO PARTY. there was a banner on the stage that said “TEXAS HATCHET CARTEL” (THC, oh snap) there was an eleven (ish) year old kid there and his 40-45 year old (ish) mom.. all dressed up in ICP clown make-up. it was pretty fucking incredible. later in the night, we tried to go back, but at this point they were charging admission.

on to the show. we played at trailer space records. it was a really cool record shop that had a lot of used punk records. the band that opened was actually really good, young/savage. i wish they had better gear.. but they were super solid. kinda like that awesome screamy emo shit that is happening. dig it. little league played and killed. we played.. pretty good? i dunno.. something seemed weird with the levels and the way my bass sounded.. but.. people seemed to be pretty into it. we sold seven records. the last band was REALLY good at their instruments, but i wasn’t into it. bird said “it’s like a heavier jam band”. indeed. oh yeah, i bought an acrid record for 3 bucks.

post show we went back to spider house.. drank some dranks. hung out with beka and the dudes from young/savage. got a little slippy. ate some vegan peanut butter cups. went to get some late night food. this place kerbey lane was really cool, because it was like a denny’s, but with vegan food. i got the vegan breakfast special. tofu scram, soysage, pancakes.. pretty decent, but i would definitely get something else the next time i go. talked about blue waffles and circumcision. you know. the usual dinner time convo. come back to the drummer’s (who, interestingly enough, looks like alex from gretzki) house, watched half of inglourious basterds before crashing the fuck out. didn’t take any pictures in austin so far. that will certainly change today. it’s only an hour and a half to san antonio, so we’re going to hang out in austin for a while. bird is getting really sick, which really sucks.. and i don’t think sterlo is far behind him.

    oh yeah snuggalos:

me and beka are going to start a line of japanese body pillows with pictures of juggalos on them and call them snuggalos. how we made our first million. jibba.
